Roy L. Smith, author of the 1945 book “Know Your Bible,” says “He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.”
Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to say that we kept Christmas in our heart all the time? Wouldn’t it be great to say we never looked for Christmas under a tree? Of course it would!
But, for most of us, if not all of us, that simply is not the case. Normally, at some time between the end of October and Thanksgiving, we get into the “Spirit of Christmas, ” and that usually lasts until around New Year’s Day. What about the other ten months of the year?
For this Christmas and the New Year to come, my prayer is that we can keep our hearts focused on Jesus: the Baby born in the manger…the perfect Man who died for the sins of the world…the Savior who is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We need to do that all year long, not just for us, but for the children we are reaching. They desperately need Jesus all year long!
