Believe it or not, it’s 2020. While growing up, we all heard the adults around us talk about how time was just flying by. And, if you were like us, none of you believed that. It seemed like 100 years between your birthdays, and the 24 days leading up Christmas seemed like 1,000 years. But as we get older, the more and more we realize just how fast time truly flies by.
It seems like yesterday, that I was running in from school as fast as I could to get into my room so I could start playing out the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or GI Joe story line I had made up for my action figures (instead of concentrating on my school work…ha-ha). But now, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and GI Joes are considered “retro”. Time REALLY flies!
That “little blonde hair and blue eyed boy” is now a grown man with the responsibility of being a husband, father, and the Local Director of CEF in the Greater Huntington Chapter. My main concerns are not playing with action figures or having to go to school (thankfully). But I have more pressing concerns like: being a Spirit filled and led leader of my household, upkeep and care of a home, starting new After School Good News Clubs, and reaching boys and girls with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
It didn’t take long to realize the great responsibility that God has placed in my life. I still think often, “Lord, why in the world did you choose me to do this?” And every time, He gives me the same answer, “It’s just what I wanted.” In times of stress, worry, fear etc., it is so comforting to know God chose me to fulfill His purpose.
Knowing that helps in moving the ministry of CEF forward. Through much prayer, we are trying to do just that, keep the ministry moving forward. Over the last few months, the Lord has really laid on our hearts some new things we are extremely excited about. The Lord has big things on the horizon and we are doing our best to work with the Holy Spirit to see them accomplished!
